What we see, and what we keep.

As little as possible, and your character’s face not at all.

The short version

Your character face image never leaves your browser. The server sees only what it needs to run a check or build your PDFs, and doesn’t keep it. No ads, no tracking cookies, no analytics, and we don’t sell data.

Your character face image

The face or reference image you add on the check page is kept in your browser’s session storage on your device. It is never uploaded to us. When you build a kit, the PDFs come back from our server with an empty reference slot, and your browser places the image into them, stamped REFERENCE ONLY. Session storage is cleared when you close the tab.

The examination

To run a live check, your browser sends us the character name, the channel URL, and the generator you chose. Our server uses them to query the USPTO’s public trademark search, read your public channel page (for example YouTube or TikTok), and match the generator’s published terms. We return the result to your browser and don’t store it. Your browser keeps a copy in session storage so the result, kit, and packet pages can show it.

Building the kit

When you build a kit, your browser sends the saved examination result, the dates you enter, and any simplified mark or channel capture you upload. The server may fetch your public channel header and profile image from the platform. It renders the two PDFs, returns them to your browser, and doesn’t store the PDFs or your uploads.

What the server keeps

  • Rate-limit counters. A one-way hash of your connection’s IP address and a request count, used only to stop abuse. Deleted automatically after 24 hours.
  • Hosting logs. Our host, Netlify, keeps standard request logs (such as IP address, browser type, and time) for security and operations, under its own retention policy.
  • After checkout opens. A purchase record (what you bought, when, an order reference, and your email). Payments are handled by our payment processor; we never see or store your full card number.
  • PromptPatrol subscribers. Your email, the watched name, the channel URL, subscription status, and which USPTO filings we’ve already told you about, so each weekly note only shows what’s new.
  • Lock kit follow-up and reviews. About a week after a lock kit purchase we send one email asking how it went. If you send a review, we keep its text, the name you chose to show, and whether you said we may publish it. We publish a review only if you said yes, unedited. Email project@openmindinnovations.com to have yours removed.

Who else is involved

We use service providers only to run CharacterGuard: Netlify (hosting and storage), the USPTO and the platform you link (public lookups made by our server), and, once they are switched on, a payment processor and an email delivery provider for PromptPatrol notes and receipts. If you choose attorney review, your kit goes to our attorney, at your direction. We don’t sell or rent personal information.

Your choices

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or cancel PromptPatrol at any time. Email project@openmindinnovations.com. Closing the browser tab clears everything kept on your device.

Age

CharacterGuard is for adults (18 or older) and for businesses. It isn’t directed to children.
